Simon Haworth gives his thoughts on his first month of competitive football at Shawbridge.

A big thank you to the great support we have had home and away
- Simon Haworth

Hello. Just thought I’d give a quick update on First Team matters a month into league football.

We have had a very good start to the season on the back of a tremendous pre-season. We are playing some excellent passing football with high energy and a real purpose and that has resulted in some awesome performances against Scarborough and Ramsbottom. Ossett and Brighouse results came from a little inexperience in holding a lead and cost us having a deserved 12 points from 12.

These are a young group of lads who are a work in progress and they are a credit to the club with their attitude on and off the field. We are scoring goals and playing excellent football whilst having the opportunity of going top of the league this coming weekend - I couldn't have asked for more.

We’ve been looking to strengthen the right wing back area, and have completed the signing of Robbie Bromley from Burscough. He fits the bill as a young, hungry, talented footballer that we can work with and improve, and he’ll no doubt fit in with the group being a humble young man. He’s also got good experience at this level which could be invaluable.

There been a new addition to the coaching staff. Ian Johnson is a lad I've known for 20 years and he has a real knowledge of the game, which comes as no surprise being Liverpool legend Ronnie Morans grandson.

Irfan Kawri continues to be a regular coach at training and occasionally at matches as he shares match days with his role as QPR's first team opposition scout / analyst.

Also a big thank you to the great support we have had home and away and the patience shown by supporters in allowing these young men to grow and develop, Brad Knox being a prime example. A 17 year old boy being supported by his manager, team mates, and supporters allowing him to deliver a performance like he did against Ramsbottom.

Lets all stick together and keep working hard and enjoy some fine football.

Thanks, Simon

We're at home this Saturday against Prescot Cables, kick off 3pm.
