Newby departs the Blues

6 months ago By Michael Barker

Striker to join Chorley FC.

Clitheroe Football Club can confirm that forward Alex Newby has departed the club.

Alex, who has enjoyed a brilliant spell this season, with 16 goals for the Blues, is expected to join National League North side Chorley FC.

Blues boss Simon Haworth is left disapointed by the departure but can understand his reasoning.

"Yeah I'm disappointed, but it's financially better for him and it's an opportunity to play in a higher league so we get that".

"Chorley have had him on trial before but chose not to take him, but obviously with the way he has played for us in recent games they are clearly very interested".

We would like to thank Alex for the hard work he has done for the club and we wish him the very best for the future.
