Creative midfield man set to become latest new arrival at Shawbridge

Attacking midfielder Terry Cummings is the latest new face to join the Shawbridge revolution.

Blues boss Phil Brown has snapped up the 21-year-old from Hallmark Security (North-West Counties) League top-flight side Burscough.

Cummings has been a leading man for the Linnets for the past couple of seasons and has now agreed to become Clitheroe’s sixth new summer signing.

“I’m delighted to have agreed terms with Terry,” said Brown, who is over-hauling the Blues’ squad ahead of his first season in charge.

“Dave (McCann) and me have known him for a while and he’s a player we’ve always liked and person we’ve always admired.

“On a personal level he has had an excellent couple of seasons at Burscough. He’s now ready for the next challenge which comes in the form of playing in the Evo-Stik League.

“As per our recruitment strategy, Terry brings versatility to our attack as he can play off the right side or through the middle as a 10.

“He’s a strong lad, has good pace and excellent technical ability. He gets his fair share of goals but is mainly a player who tops the player assists tables.”

The arrival of Cummings – included in one fans’ poll in the Hallmark League squad of the season – will increase Brown’s creative options.

And with frontmen Jordan Darr and Conor Gaul, teenage winger Jake Connelly and midfield play-maker Charlie Russell also committing to a place in next season’s squad, Brown is pleased with how his plans are coming together.

He added: “The supporters will like our attacking players this season. Their pace, skill and, at times unpredictability, will excite them.”

At the other end of the pitch, Brown has added the experience of former England ‘C’ captain Craig Stanley.

And he is also set to complete the signing of a new goalkeeper as he strengthens across the board in preparation for the new campaign.
