AUTHOR: Phil Ghayour
The West-Yorkshire side score five to end Clitheroe’s unbeaten run of 5 games.
Nightingale was instrumental in his side taking the victory, brilliantly playing in front man Paul Walker who calmly finished for Farsley’s third and their winner after 55 minutes.
The Blues started positively and Sefton Gonzales’ fourteenth minute header was blocked by visiting keeper Tom Taylor, but Scott Harries was on point to net the rebound.
Two minutes later Simon Garner’s side doubled their lead. Captain David Lynch brought down in the penalty area, and Louis Mayers stepped up to score his eighth of the season.
Farlsey front man Aiden Savoury had the chance to pull one back for his side after 27 minutes, latching onto a cross Savoury’s volley was tamely placed into the hands of keeper Ben Woodhead.
Though the visitors got their goal second before the halftime whistle, midfielder Ross Daly struck hard and low from outside the box, beating Woodhead at his near post.
The game turned as Celtic became the dominant force, pressure on the Clitheroe backline was unrelenting.
Farsley equalised eight minutes into the second half, Lewis Nightingale capitalising on Woodhead’s spill from a corner.
Before today The Blues were dominant in their last five games, scoring 14 in the process.
However, today the Shawbridge side were undone, Paddy Miller with the header in the 66th minutes past Woodhead via nightingale’s corner for the fourth, the fifth came through Aiden Savory, the striker drilling home ten minutes later.
The result ends The Blues impressive run of five games unbeaten, whilst Farsley secure their first away league win of the season.
