Colwyn Bay 5 - 1 Clitheroe
Miserable day at the office as Seagulls fly to victory
The run unfortunately goes on as Clitheroe fall to a damaging defeat in North Wales.
With Colwyn Bay chasing the playoffs it was a chance for Clitheroe to upset the party and they very almost got off to the perfect start when Danny Brady played a brilliant ball into Kurt Willoughby who could not finish.
In the first 20 minutes, Clitheroe met the Seagulls for Posession and pressure and Charlie Russell put in a superb challenge to deny Jack Hindle from going clean through.
Similarly to Brighouse on Monday however the good start was damaged when Lassanna Mendes charged through the Blues defence and powered a shot past Thompson who had no chance.
As the half went on Clitheroe were creating very little and Colwyn Bay learned that they could keep playing simple balls through the defence and gain success.
After several missed chances, Jack Hindle was played through and finally made it count to make to 2-0 on half time.
The Blues got off to a flying start in the second half with the positive attitude that was needed and Joe Mitchell must have considered himself the unluckiest man going when his long range effort powered off the crossbar.
This was followed by further pressure from Clitheroe but the Bay defence stayed strong and then caught them on the break in the 53rd minute and added a third and virtually seal three points with Hindle again with a great finish.
Blues continued fighting and had a succession of corners but little success.
No luck would come Clitheroe's way and it proved dividends when a simple ball opened up the Clitheroe defence and Jack Hindle unselfishly squared past Thompson to Danny Andrews who slotted into an open net.
Kurt Willoughby almost snatched one back for Clitheroe when his deflected free kick had Matt Cooper beaten but it drifted inches wide.
Colwyn Bay then rounded it off with a fifth goal on the 69th minute with another ball slotted easily through the defence and Hindle claimed his hat trick.
Chris Churchman managed to score his first goal back in a Blues shirt when he lobbed Cooper but in the end another to forget in North Wales. Full-time: Colwyn Bay 5-1 Blues.
