Clitheroe 2-0 Glossop North End
23 March 2019.
Clitheroe started brightly with a nice early attack as Burey sending Jeffries down the right but his cross goes out for a goal kick. Possession was clearly in the home teams favour in the early stages. First really good chance goes Hazeldine, the shot going just wide of the post. A couple of corners but no goals. Burey creating good chances with his pace. Jeffries goes close on the 20 minute mark.
Great chance for Recizac. Burey races clear down the right and puts a low ball across the box. Hazeldine let's it run to Recizac who has loads of time but decides to take a first time shot. The ball sails high and wide over the bar and the crowd groan. Good attacking play. Glossop have a good chance but goes wide of the post. Free kick to Clitheroe on the right side of the box.
Wilson bends the ball round the wall and looks destined for the top corner. Unfortunately it hits the post and goes wide. 39 minutes gone Hazeldine gets a good clear run on goal left of the box, looks up, nobody in a good position so takes the shot from a tight angle and scores. 1-0.
Free kick to Clitheroe on the right hand side about 35 yards out. Wilson plays the ball into the area but too close to their keeper who collects.
Half time 1-0. Second half Glossop show a more than they did in the first half and have a good period of play but The Blues defend well. Hazeldine get his well-deserved second goal. A beautiful run from Burey puts the ball across the goal and Max is right there to slot it home.
Chance for Glossop Ball played into the box and a shot is well blocked by Wilson.
Free kick to Glossop in the same place we hit the post in the first half, they hit the poles behind the goals. Close though. Glossop create good chance with a high ball played into the box goes to one of their players on the far side of the box. He takes the ball well and shoots, Purdham with a great save with his feet.
We play 5 minutes of injury time and the final whistle blows with a greatly need 2-0 home win and the 3 points. A great team performance.
