Lee Ashforth has worked tirelessly this week to strengthen the squad.

Clitheroe are delighted to welcome to the club Goalkeeper Ben Purdham, plus defenders/midfielders Alex Low and Andy Langford.

Ben Purdham joins us on dual registration from Curzon Ashton, who has previously played for Mossley and had stints on loan at Prescot Cables.

Alex Low has also joined after making 24 appearances in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division due to his work commitments for Garforth Town this season. The 27 year old has a wealth of experience at Evo-Stik level having played for Harrogate Railway, Brighouse Town and Ossett Town alongside Josh Snowden, all under Ashforth.

Andy Langford has also signed today from Trafford, where he has made 19 league appearances this season after being last seasons Managers player of the year. 30 year old Langford has also played for Droylsden as well as Morecambe and Fleetwood in his youth.

Ashforth said "Last week's first half performance against 2nd place Runcorn was unacceptable after a run of 5 games where the squad had been competitive. To be 4-0 down at half-time at home forced me to go and improve the squad, and after speaking to numerous managers, we have managed to secure 3 players to add to the squad, and the potential of one more to come in after the weekend."

"Gaining the experience of Alex Low who has played for me in previous seasons is a great signing. Andy Langford had a host of clubs chasing him this week, and it took several conversations to finally get pen to paper. We beat off a few clubs higher in this league and we have secured an exceptional player. We also needed two Goalkeepers for the run in of games and getting Ben will enable us to have two young players for one shirt. Cameron Terry has had a great run in the team, but to also have Ben now will give some much needed competition."

"I want players, committee and in particular supporters, to be assured that we are not just letting this season run its course. We have a job to do, points to play for and the players are under no illusions of the challenge over the remaining games. Finally thanks in particular to Tom Baker at Trafford and Rob Hunter at Garforth for releasing these players so they join in time for Saturday".

The Blues are away this weekend at Droylsden, with a 3pm kick-off.
