Versatile attacker Conor Gaul joins the blues from Atherton Collieries

Clitheroe Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of 23-year-old attacking player Conor Gaul, who joins the club from Atherton Collieries where he won the Evo-Stik League First Division West last season.

Gaul, who also previously played at Colne, Kendal Town and in the Gibraltar Second Division with Bruno's Magpies, becomes the Blues’ second summer signing under new boss Phil Brown following the return to Shawbridge of local lad Charlie Russell.

Darwen-based Gaul can play in a number of positions across the front line and is well known for his skill, pace and dynamism.

When asked what the fans can expect from him on the pitch, he said 'I can play on either the left or right... I'm very direct, I like to beat my man and try to get a cross in or cut back and score.'

Brown was delighted to secure Conor's signature and commented on the deal by saying:
"We are very pleased to have agreed terms with Conor. Competition for his signature was high so I’m delighted he has agreed to come to Clitheroe. In attacking positions we want to bring in dynamic and versatile players and Conor certainly fits that criteria. He is quick, skilful and can play in several attacking positions. He won the league last season with Atherton Collieries, so he knows the level of performance you need to reach to be successful. I’m looking forward to watching him play and I can see him doing very well with us."

Please join us in wishing Conor a warm welcome to Shawbridge!
