Former Blues' man Dennis Hill returns as Under-21s' boss

Fans’ favourite Dennis Hill is back at Clitheroe.

Hill – a member of the Blues’ 1996 FA Vase final team – is taking over as boss of the Under-21s at Shawbridge.

He will work closely with first-team boss Phil Brown and Steve Entwistle, who will now take charge of the Under-18s.

Entwistle coached the U21s last season and with that side now successfully established in the Lancashire FA County League, will hand over the reigns to Hill and concentrate on the youth team, which will play in the Lancashire Sunday League.

“We are looking to extend the development plan further down the age groups,” said Entwistle.

“That will take a bit more co-ordination and having been at the club for longer it made sense for me to give that my focus.

“It’s great to see Dennis back and with his enthusiasm and experience, hopefully we can both play a part in helping progress young players towards the first team set-up.

“I believe there are a lot of good young players in the area and we want to give them the opportunity to progress at Clitheroe.”

Hill, an attacking midfield player who started his career at Burnley before playing League football at Torquay United and in Scotland with Airdrie, was a key part of the Clitheroe side that reached the Vase final at Wembley.

He also gave non-league service in the area to Bamber Bridge, Rossendale United, Lancaster City and Darwen, where he also had a spell as manager following the club’s re-formation.

The Blues are holding a trial session for under-18 and under-21 players at Shawbridge on Sunday, 23 June as they look to add new faces ahead of the start of pre-season training.

Don’t forget, season tickets to watch all Clitheroe home games from first-team level down will cost just £50. So, come and ‘Back the Blues’. Full details HERE
