The blues make it 5 wins in 5

It was another fine display for Clitheroe as they continued their fine run of form with a 3-0 win over 3rd place Glossop North End in the Evo-Stik North Division.

The club had been boosted by 2 new additions prior to the fixture; Goalkeeper Steven James and Forward Darrhyl Mason who both featured in the match.

Clitheroe were looking to build on their impressive run as of late recording 4 wins from 4 games and on 6 minutes, they took the lead. Winger Scott Harries delivered a dangerous cross from the left and found Michael Hampson who met the ball with a fine header to make it 1-0.

Glossop did have chances in the game with Matthew Russell on 17 minutes attempting to lob Steven James from range, but his effort hit the top of the net and out of play,. Shortly after Jamie Rainford struck from 20 yards firing just wide and then on 24 minutes Glossop forward Jason Carey split the Clitheroe defence and found himself through on goal but ended up dragging his shot wide.

With 35 minutes on the clock, Clitheroe doubled their lead with Harries picking up the ball on the right and beating his defender before calmly slotting the ball into the far corner. Just 5 minutes later, the blues added a 3rd with Harries turning provider again delivering a wonderful cross to allow Sefton Gonzales head home with a bit of help from the post and Glossop goalkeeper Andrew Robertson's back making it 3-0 to the hosts before the break.

The 2nd half presented few chances for either side. The best chance came from the introduction of Clitheroe's new signing Darrhyl Mason who made his presence felt on 62 minutes racing onto a flick on by Sefton Gonzales and with Mason baring down on goal with only the keeper to beat, he somehow put the ball wide.

Glossop's evening got a lot worse on 73 minutes when full back Matthew Russell was given his marching orders after receiving his second yellow card reducing the visitors to 10 men for the remainder of the match.
