Clitheroe FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Stuart Mellish as first team Manager to succeed Simon Haworth.

The former Warrington Town Manager who worked for four years alongside and then succeeded Shaun Reid, won the Division 1 North title and then took them to eighth in the NPL premier before being replaced.

Since then he has been scouting for Altrincham and Darlington whilst he looked for the opportunity to get back into managing. He will be joined as assistant by David Mannix, who has a real professional football pedigree, was Warrington Town’s skipper in their epic FA Cup run and currently runs his own football academy.

Chair Anne Barker said “We had a very good idea of the calibre of candidate we were looking for when Simon announced he was leaving. After meeting the Directors both informally and at a formal interview process, the decision to appoint Stuart was unanimous. We are excited to see how Stuart and David can build on the foundations laid by Simon.

Stuart said “I have been keen to get back into football as a manager but was waiting for the right opportunity. I am familiar with Clitheroe as a manager and understand the passion the fans have for the club. I am delighted to have been offered the position and will work tirelessly to bring the success i know we can deliver together.”
