Modou Cham will be playing at Shawbridge next season

I felt this is the right place for me to develop further as a player
- Modou Cham

Modou Cham, known as Mo to his team mates, this week has signed for the Blues.

The Gambian born winger spent two years as a professional at Rovers playing in the under 21 Barclays Premier League. Last season he went on loan to Stockport County.

After receiving offers from clubs in higher leagues we caught up with the pacey winger to find out how the move came about.

"I got a call from Clitheroe's first team coach Irfan, and he arranged to meet me in Bolton. He spoke to me about the philosophy and ethos the manager Simon Haworth will be bringing to the football club and I was impressed. So after going away and thinking about it I got in touch with Irfan and came to pre season training.

After the first two sessions the training and coaching I had took part in from Simon, Gareth and Irfan was just as good as, or in some cases even better, than what I have had in my career up to now.

After speaking to the gaffer I knew straight away he is a man I can learn so much from. I played a couple of friendly games and felt this is the right place for me to develop further as a player and playing under Simon will help me to play at the highest level possible."

Clitheroe's next friendly is away at Silsden on Saturday. Kick off 15:00.
