Ryan Ellison joins the Blues on a 28-day emergency loan

Stockport County defender Ryan Ellison has joined Clitheroe on a 28-day emergency loan, linking up with former County team mate Gareth Roberts.

Ryan has just returned from a five-month injury lay-off, and it's hoped a month playing in the North Premier League will aid his rehabilitation.

Ryan will also provide cover for Ian Rowlands who has a groin/hernia problem, and Danny Brady who misses the Colwyn Bay game.

The 19-year-old ended last season strongly playing as a defensive midfielder in Jim Gannon's Stockport side and impressed enough to be handed a new deal at the end of the campaign, but a pre-season knee injury required surgery in September.

Last season he made 17 appearances for County, scoring a wonder goal from right-back in the Hatters' home win over Alfreton in September 2015.

Under previous manager Neil Young, Ryan struggled to make the match day squad on a regular basis, and ended up joining Witton Albion on loan for three months at the end of last year in order to get some game time, and it proved to be a good decision for the young defender as he returned and fought his way into the squad under Jim Gannon and cemented a place in the starting eleven.
