After a long delay, Clitheroe's game against Bamber Bridge today at Shawbridge has been called off.
After a night of heavy rain the pitch actually looked quite good at 9am so no inspection was necessary and the decision was made to wait to see how the ever-changing weather faired and what the match referee thought.
By 13:00 the referee had arrived and gave the surface a thorough inspection with still no decision in sight. It was decided to wait until the last possible moment to give the best chance of the game being on, but by 13:55 the officials decided the surface would not last through 90 minutes of football plus downpours.
Our next match is the Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy semi final on Tuesday against Radcliffe Borough to be played at the County Ground in Leyland.
