A lovely surprise down at the ground

A lovely surprise down at the ground recently when ex Clitheroe goalkeeper Roy Wood visited the ground.
Roy after being demobbed played for New Brighton.
After a period at New Brighton Clitheroe signed him from New Brighton and he travelled to the town under his own steam a fair way those days.

With outstanding games for Clitheroe he was spotted by Leeds United and in 1952 they paid the club £300 £50 going to Roy a lot of money in those days
He went on to play over 200 games for Leeds. He still lives in the Leeds area. After 60 years Roy remembers the club affectionately. We wish Roy and his family many happy years together.
