Blues put in a good performance against Conference North side Guiseley, who won the game through a 49th minute goal from Adam Boyes.

Simon Garner made seven changes from the starting line-up at Squires Gate. The team included new signing Seydou Bamba who played against us impressively for Squires Gate. Bamba lined up at left back but can play just as comfortably in midfield and up front as he proved later in the game.

Blues made a good start to the game and more than matched their higher league opponents. The first decent effort on goal came on 31 minutes when Danny Wilkins forced Guiseley keeper Stephen Drench to make a save. From the goal kick, Guiseley attacked quickly and the move ended with Adam Boyes shooting just wide.

Guiseley had another chance minutes later when a stooping header from Boyes didn't have enough power and Matt Green saved comfortably. Close to half time Roberto Bonaminio won a tackle and laid a superb ball to David Lynch who hit a dipping shot just over the bar.

Half time - Clitheroe 0 Guiseley 0

The game's deciding goal just two minutes in to the second half, when the Blues defence were caught down the left and Adam Boyes confidently shot past triallist goalkeeper Josh Samberg.

The remainder of the game became somewhat disjointed due to the numerous substitutions by both teams. Best chances for Clitheroe came from Bonaminio's shot on 52 minutes and a header from Mike Aspin on 78 minutes. Guiseley sub Nicky Boshell had two good efforts, the first was a fiercely struck shot which Samberg did well to get his fingertips too and divert it for a corner.

Former Blues striker Alex Johnson came on for Guiseley as a second half substitute.

Clitheroe line-up: Matt Green, Mike Aspin, Seydou Bamba, Adam Freeland,
Steve Mercer, Roberto Bonaminio, Dom Mulkerrin, David Lynch, Richard Burns, Danny Wilkins, James Walker.

2nd half subs: Josh Samberg, Charlie Collinge, Danny Brady, Callum Hoctor, Liam Hutchinson.
