Blues crashed to defeat against Ossett Albion, despite dominating the possession.

Simon Garner had to make changes up front with the unavailability of Sefton Gonzales (illness) and Liam Hutchinson (work commitments). Seydou Bamba moved up front to play in a three with Richard Burns and Zach Clark. Danny Morton moved to right back with Danny Brady at left back.

The first half was all one way traffic with Blues well on top, with Clark and Bamba looking threatening down the flanks. On 12 minutes Burns layed a ball of to Bamba whose shot was blocked by an Ossett defender. Burns had a good chance himself on 16 minutes when he controlled Clark's cross on his chest and volleyed just over.

David Lynch had a good effort from the edge of the area punched away by Ossett keeper Neil Bennett on 18 minutes. Burns again volleyed across the goal on 25 minutes and shortly after Clark received an excellent cross field ball from Danny Wilkins, but after beating a defender his shot was saved at the near post by Bennett.

The chances continued for the Blues and on 34 minutes, good work again from Clark beating a defender and squaring to Wilkins, who couldn't control his shot which bobbled wide of the post. Danny Brady had a long range shot a minute later and just before half time from a Lynch free kick, he glanced a header just over the bar.

Seydou Bamba was the victim of a late challenge by an Ossett defender on 53 minutes, which he was unable to continue after treatment. He was replaced by Jack Hargreaves, with Zach Clark swapping to the left wing. Within a minute Blues were behind, with the home team scoring with their first shot at goal in the match from Conor McDonagh.

New signing Neville Nelson made his debut replacing Richard Burns on 60 minutes. On 70 minutes, good work again from Clark who put in an excellent cross but there were no blue shirts there to finish it off.

Simon Garner replaced Danny Wilkins on 75 minutes but picked up an injury within minutes of coming on. He soldiered on gallantly for the rest of the game as Blues pushed everyone forward to try and level the game.

With just three minutes remaining Blues were denied what looked a clear penalty. Clark was clearly pushed over in the penalty area and to the disbelief of the Blues players and supporters, the referee waved play on.

The game ended with a second goal for Ossett Albion after Matt Green's clearance went straight to an unmarked Connor Brunt, who confidently finished to make it 2-0.

A disappointing and undeserved result which leaves Blues fourth from bottom after today's games.

Blues line-up: Matt Green, Danny Morton, Danny Brady, Adam Freeland, Steve Mercer, David Lynch, Zach Clark, Roberto Bonaminio, Richard Burns (Neville Nelson 60), Danny Wilkins (Simon Garner 75), Seydou Bamba (Jack Hargreaves 53). Sub not used, Alex Palffy.
