The Blues were held to a draw following late drama in this afternoon's game away to Kendal Town FC

BIG news from the team sheet was a start for 18-year-old youth captain Ryan Cattermole in midfield, replacing the suspended David Lynch. Whilst on the Kendal side of the sheet it was the name that strikes fear into Evo-stik First Division North defenders, hatrick hero against Darlington Jordan Connerton.

However, it was in only the second minute that the travelling Blues made an impression, strong work for Sefton Gonzales set up Zac Dale, his effort only inches wide of Alexander Cameron’s goal.

The following 12 minutes was a barrage of Blue attacks, broken only by the sudden injury to Mint Cake midfielder Byron Andrews being stretched off following a heavy challenge with Cattermole, his replacement was Zach Clark, a scorer in the reverse fixture thriller.

Clitheroe domination quickly resumed cumulating in the 19th minute when Cory Bent weaved through the Kendal defence and finding the feet of Gonzales, his strike finely saved by Cameron as it flashed towards his top left.

6 minutes afterwards Bent found himself in familiar territory once again, the blue number 11 shimmy and shaking past Rob Henry at right back and pushing the ball past Cameron in goal, denied only by defender Rory Winters on the line.

The half went on with The Blues in control, limiting their hosts to infrequent attacks and holding them at bay to point where referee Paul Hodskinson was blowing for half time and Kendal had yet to test Peter Collinge in goal.

Though only two minutes into the second half all of Clitheroe’s first 45 domination meant nothing as Seydou Bamba brought down Zach Clark inside the box. Referee Hodskinson pointed to the twelve yard mark, Connerton converted to give Kendal both their first shot on target and lead.

Kendal were transformed, role reversal from the first half as The Mint Cakes dominated play, Collinge being called into make his first save of the day after Geroge Mason’s 64th minute effort.

Mason would have rued that missed chance after Bent’s shot form inside the penalty ear hit the post and crossed the Kendal line, the 71st minute equaliser sparked life into The Blues as the found form again pressuring the homes side’s goal.

Louis Mayers made way for Joseph Mullen moments after the goal and it took the substitute till only the 84th minute to make a difference as Cameron sliced hi clearance into the path of Mullen who teed up Cattermole for the 18-yaer-old's first senior goal.

With Clitheroe in the lead and only six minutes reaming The Blue looked to be leaving Cumbria with the prized three points, that is before goalkeeping karma was dealt. Two minutes after the Blues’ goal Collinge didn’t slice his clearance but completely missed it, the chasing Connerton scored his fifth goal in two games to savage a point in this battle for 13th.

The result leaves both sides at the started the day, one place and one point apart. Kendal in 14th with 41 points whilst The Blues remain in 13th but the point puts them on 42 for the season. The Blues now sit a rather mighty 10 points from Harrogate Railway in 10th
