The Blues made it thirteen goals in their last three away games with a comprehensive 4-0 win at Radcliffe Borough.

The squad was given a boost with the return of Cory Bent who replaced James Walker, who dropped down to the bench. Otherwise it was an unchanged starting line-up from the 0-1 home defeat to Lancaster City on New Year’s Day.
Radcliffe had former Blues Keith Wedge and Chris Mason in their line-up.

After Radcliffe had a chance in the opening minute, the early stages were quiet until Cory Bent had the Blues first chance on 15 minutes. David Lynch sent a perfect through ball to him but despite having time and space, he blasted the shot over the top.

The opening goal came on 38 minutes. Seydou Bamba was fouled on the edge of the box and from the free kick, Roberto Bonaminio struck it well and via a couple of slight deflections ended up in the net.

The Blues were straight on the attack from the re-start and it was no surprise when the second goal came on 48 minutes. Danny Morton’s long ball was headed back by Bent leaving Sefton Gonzales free in the box to finish easily.

Goal number three wasn’t long coming. On 54 minutes, Jason Hart’s pass sent Bent clear on the right and his low centre was perfect for Gonzales to score from close range for his second goal.

On 68 minutes it was 4-0. Jason Hart picked the ball up on the left flank and cut inside to hit a fabulous shot over Radcliffe keeper Chris Cheetham and in to the top corner.

With two minutes remaining, Radcliffe were awarded a penalty to the bewilderment of the Blues players and supporters. Chris Mason took it but Alex Palffy saved brilliantly to ensure another clean sheet.
