CLITHEROE 2-2 AVRO F.C

This was the proverbial game of 2 halves that ended with a point apiece. Clitheroe dominated the first half and impressed with their approach play but failed to capitalise on their advantage until the stroke of half time. Danny Wilkins floated in an excellent free kick and defender Billy Priestley headed home firmly into the top corner.

The second half started more evenly and then Avro stepped up a gear midway through the half. They equalised in the 67th minute when Kyle Hawley’s strength saw him ride a couple of challenges before slotting firmly home. A smart double save from Blues keeper Danny Taberner then kept the visitors out but he could nothing soon after. Avro took the lead on 72 minutes with a superbly struck shot from Kane Wallwork, his piledriver from fully 35 yards out arrowing into the net.

Nine minutes of added time was announced and another long Lee Pugh throw was acrobatically volleyed onto and over the bar by Clitheroe substitute Owen Devonport. The pressure was ramped up even more until defender Jacon Hanson pounced on a cleared ball and fired it home sweetly from the edge of the box to secure a deserved share of the points.
