Clitheroe draw for first time this season to go 4 matches unbeaten.

Both sides coped well with the heavy pitch and a point each was a fair result - though both sides had chances to take all three.

A largely uneventful first half saw Scott Bakkor booked for an unnecessary challenge very close to a corner flag and 5 minutes later was substituted, making way for Michael Hampson.

The Blues best effort of the first 45 minutes came just before the half time whistle when a long kick from keeper Ben Woodhead sat up nicely for Scott Harries to lash in a tremendous volley that was smartly palmed away by the diving Prescot keeper for a corner.

The same player then had a chance to open the scoring very early in the second half when he ran through on goal but his shot that time wasn't on target.

The home side took the lead in the 53rd minute when their centre forward Rob Doran had a terrific shot parried by Ben Woodhead and then reacted first to follow up and knock in the loose ball.

Clitheroe continued to look shot-shy and defender Danny Brady was injured and replaced by Roberto Bonaminio on 68 minutes. Just 5 minutes later left back James Walker was replaced by Ryan Cattermole.

Prescot looked more likely to increase their lead but it was Clitheroe who scored next when Sefton Gonzales played a one-two with David Lynch and just managed to toe poke it past the onrushing keeper to make it 1-1 on 75 minutes.

The Blues had a great opportunity to take the lead just moments later when Sefton Gonzales played in Michael Hampson through the middle and although he managed to knock the ball past the Prescot keeper it was cleared off the line by a retreating defender.

Some end to end action then followed with both sides having chances to steal the points, the Blues best chance being a Sefton Gonzales header that was saved at point blank range by the Prescot keeper.

The ref played 5 minutes of added time and Clitheroe continued to press for the winner but ultimately had to settle for a point in their frist draw of the season.
