The Blues have secured another attractive fixture as part their pre-season planning with National League North side Chester FC coming to Shawbridge.

Clitheroe kick-off their preparations for the 2020/21 season with a visit from League One outfit Accrington Stanley on 4 July.

And a week later, Chester’s Blues will come to town for a high-noon meeting with David Lynch’s side on Sunday, 11 July (KO 12midday).

The former Football League club will be hoping for a promotion-chasing campaign after sitting third when the last season at National League North was curtailed in February.

And Chester’s trip to Shawbridge as part of their pre-season schedule will mean a return for former Blues Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley, who have just celebrated three years as the management team at the Deva Stadium following a clutch of promotion successes with Ramsbottom United and Salford City.

“I’m really pleased to be able to welcome Chester to Shawbridge,” said Clitheroe director of football Carl Garner.

“It’s a club I’ve worked for and it’s a great game for David to get his teeth into and an opportunity for us to welcome back two of our own old boys in Bernard and Jonno.

“They have become top-class managers, are very close friends of mine and are special people who, in my opinion, will without a doubt work in the Football League at some point.

“It’s another exciting Sunday in store at Clitheroe FC.”

The fixture will be pay-on-the-day for supporters with admission £8 adults, £5 over-60s, £4 ages 17-14, £2 under-14s or free if accompanied by an adult.

The Blues have a number of other home pre-season games planned and will be announcing a ticket package and season-ticket holder discounts nearer the time.
