Clitheroe FC announce the support of an Over 35 Clitheroe FC VETS Team!

After being approached by two genuine club legends Simon Garner (41) and Jason Jones (42) who incredibly have made 540 appearances between them for the Blues and who both now support the club, live in Clitheroe and bring their kids on regularly to watch our home games. We can confirm the club is more than happy to support their application to enter an affiliated Vets (Over 35) League in the name our our club.

The board decided to unanimously to support this and see it as another worthy and exciting dynamic to the overall structure of our growing club .

Simon Garner said :-
It struck us just how many ex players are attending Clitheroe games these days and we saw a fabulous opportunity to get even more ex players together and have some fun but also represent the club in a positive light."

"Me and Jason see it as a bit of payback to the club. We also will be looking to raise money for local charities as and when possible through this and indeed both of us knowing what it’s like to be injured in semi pro football our first goal with this will be a game in february at Shawbridge to raise money for Lee Pugh" (details of this charity game to be announced)

"We have already had loads of interest from ex players and the door will be open for anyone over 35 that’s played any sort of football here previously to join us and take part. We may even have the odd special guest involved who knows?"

"We will be self sufficient but would like to thank everyone at Clitheroe Football Club especially Vice Chairman Andrew Jackson and Director Ross Hibbert. A special thanks also goes to Danny Wilkins and his clothing company CAPO for supporting us with our kits, it's very much appreciated."

As mentioned, if you'd like to take part in Clitheroe FC VETS Team, then please get in touch with the club.
