The Blues’ new-look Under-18 side enjoyed an impressive win at Fleetwood to advance to the next round of the Syndicate Trust Youth Cup.
Charlie Trickett, Harvey Hayhurst, Nico Musso and Seth Elliot got the goals in an impressive performance from Ollie Quigley’s side.
The Blues – who play in the Lancashire FA Sunday League – went ahead just before the break through Trickett’s clever back-heel finish.
Clitheroe continued to dominate in the second half and doubled their lead when Hayhurst steered home a superb free-kick from just outside the penalty area.
Musso – who along with Joel Blackledge were the stand-outs in a slick team performance – then made it 3-0.
And another flowing move ended with Elliot converting the fourth before Fleetwood gained a late consolation from the penalty spot.
“The team were very good,” said Quigley. “The patience in possession and movement from the lads was excellent and it was a well-deserved win.”
Clitheroe: Matty Whitworth, Regan Whittaker, Will Young, Joel Blackledge, Lewis Brown, Harvey Hayhurst, Charlie Holt, Seth Elliot, Nico Musso, Tom Nield, Charlie Trickett. Substitute: Max Fielden.
