Despite being cup-tied for tonight’s Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy game at home to Nelson, striker Jason Hart met up with James Burch to speak about his first goal for the club at the weekend and how he believes this evening’s local derby will be a stern test for his Blues side.
The 24 year old who recently signed from Padiham is under no illusions that this evenings fixture against Nelson will be hard for his side and Simon Garner will have to set up his team with a winning mind set if Clitheroe are to progress through to the next round, Hart said; “Tonight will be a tough game for the lads, Nelson are a very organised side and any team that play against someone in a higher league will up their game. I expect Nelson to start the game at a high tempo but I'm positive that the lads will get a good result and progress to the next stage of the cup.”
Having already played for Evo-Stik Northern Premier League side Padiham in the cup this season, Hart is unavailable to play in tonight’s game, which was also the case in the FA Trophy a few weeks ago when Clitheroe lost 2-0 to Workington AFC. The goal getter told the official club website; “I am very gutted that I can't play tonight, I've always enjoyed playing against Nelson. I have mates that play there so it's always good for bragging rights, I will be cheering the lads on from the stands and hoping we get the win.”
The former Colne FC forward scored his first goal of the season during last weekend’s 2-1 home win against Salford City and the delight on the Accrington born players face was clear to see from the whole of Shawbridge. Hart went on to say; “There was a massive weight lifted off my shoulders after Saturdays goal, i'd have settled for a goal that bounced off my shin but to get one like that against Salford has given me a massive boost. I feel now I've bagged I'll have the confidence to score more, I've been snatching at chances but now one has gone in hopefully more will come.”
When asked if he believes Saturday’s goal will help him go on to score more and what his side are aiming for in the up and coming weeks, he finished off by saying; “Personally I think we should treat every game the same and aim to go as far as we can in the cup, it's a good chance to play at Bolton’s Reebok Stadium so we should be aiming to do so. We've set the standard in the league now so there's no reason we can't continue the good run of form.”
