Laquan Esdaille: ‘We are due three points’

Clitheroe centre-back Laquan Esdaille believes after three straight draws, his side are due registering three points this weekend away at Scarborough.
Esdaille played the duration of the 1-1 draw against Ossett Albion last weekend and had prepared himself to play alongside Danny Brady in the heart of defence. However Brady injured himself in the warm up and the former Manchester City youth graduate had to get ready to play in a new partnership;
“Losing any player before a game is always going to disrupt a team’s preparation especially someone of Brady’s quality, but fortunately it didn't have too much of an impact on the match itself.”
“It was surprising as it was quite late into the warm up but the coaching staff managed to sort it out pretty quickly and Seydou stepped in with minimal fuss and gave a good account of himself.” Esdaille added; “It's 1 of those things that are out of your control really and you just have to stay focused in the task at hand. Seydou stepped into a different position with minimal fuss.”
Since joining the club in 2014, the Manchester born defender has played solidly and confidently, picking up many plaudits but being the true player that he is, he is harsh on his own performances, as he went on to say;
“I'm my own biggest critic and know there are parts of my performance which I can improve on but overall I was pleased with the way I played and the defensive unit as a whole. It's just about building up my match fitness and the performances will continue to improve in due course.”
Clitheroe have failed to register a clean sheet since the 3rd January, however Esdaille hopes the goals will continue to come and his side can keep it tight at the back this weekend against Scarborough Athletic;
“I think it will be key as a strong foundation will give the lads up top the impetus to bang the goals in. We know it will be a tough encounter but will be 100% ready to do the job.”
“We are due three points! We seem to raise our game against the so called bigger teams in the division. So it is down to us to start turning draws into wins again and hopefully we can do that come Saturday.”
