Blues’ boss Phil Brown has swooped to sign exciting young midfielder Oscar O’Neil.
The former Preston North End youth-teamer moves to Shawbridge after leaving Lancaster City.
O’Neil – son of former Celtic, Preston and Scotland midfield man Brian – joined the Dolly Blues in the summer but has now taken up the challenge at Shawbridge and will be available for the Blues at Ramsbottom tonight (Tuesday).
“He’s a good young player and someone I know all about from Preston,” said Brown.
“I have been looking to add to our midfield options and I think he’ll suit us really well.”
As well as figuring for Lancaster, O’Neil also has BetVictor top-flight experience from a loan spell at Bamber Bridge in the 2017/18 season.
And the arrival of the 19-year-old coincides with the departure of Jordan Darr.
Darr, a summer signing from Chorley, is leaving Clitheroe to join Charnock Richard.
Work commitments mean a move to the North-West Counties League suits the striker, whose goal at Trafford at the end of August helped secure the Blues’ second win of the season.
