It was with great sadness that the club recently learnt of the death of John Kirk.
John played for the club between 1963-75 and racked up almost 500 appearances, making him the player with the third highest number of appearances ever for the club, scoring 53 goals in the process.
He went on to manage Waddington FC and was subsequently asked to become manager of
the successful Clitheroe FC reserve side in the early nineties, bringing David Burgess and Jon Hosty with him as part of the management team. David and Jon stayed in regular contact with John over the ensuing years.
The club passes on its deepest condolences to John’s family and friends.
