Gooden, a pacey forward who can play across the front line, joins the Blues from NPL top-flight leaders Warrington Town on a dual registration basis with National League North side Chester City.

The 20-year-old previously earned a professional deal at League Two outfit Mansfield Town before a highly impressive spell with Ramsbottom United.

Gooden helped the Rams reach the last 16 of the FA Trophy in 2019 and the NPL North-West Division play-offs during a loan spell from Mansfield before signing permanently last season and sharing in another promotion push before the season was curtailed.

His arrival at Shawbridge comes with the Blues riding high on the back of an unbeaten start in the league and sitting second in the NPL North-West Division.

And his signing is expected to give boss David Lynch a different attacking option as he looks to keep building from a position of strength.
