Having already secured a play-off place Clitheroe named a much changed team and were beaten by a Kidsgrove team who themselves belied their recent poor form. The home team shaded the early stages with the best effort falling to John McGrath but his close range header sailed over the bar. Kidsgrove opened the scoring after 41 minutes when a left wing cross wasn’t cleared and Will Saxon tapped in at the far post to give the visitors the half time lead.
Clitheroe equalised after 51 minutes when good work by Jamie Edwards on the edge of the box released Joel Byrom in on goal and he finished superbly. Kidsgrove then retook the lead with an absolute screamer from Will Byers in the 67th minute, his unstoppable angled drive from outside the box giving the home keeper no chance. The visitors increased their advantage and secured the points in the 72nd minute with another well struck goal from distance.
