Scott Bakkor's wonder-goal was a bright spark in an otherwise frustrating day for The Blues

Despite a wonder goal from Scott Bakkor The Blues were defeated by visiting Ossett Town, goals from David Brown and Nathan Curtis condemned Clitheroe to their third defeat of the campaign.

Brown got the visitor’s first after debutante keeper Sam Guthrie’s stretching arm brought down the advancing attacker in the 19th minute. Referee Rawcliffe pointed for the 12-yard mark. Brown himself dispatched the penalty to the right of Guthrie, Ossett’s third goal on the road this season.

Simon Garner’s side failed to make the most of their opportunities, five minutes before halftime Callum Hendry was played in following sublime build up play from Louis Mayers and Scott Bakkor, but the blue number 10 was hounded away by recovering defenders.

On the 44th minute blues' captain David Lynch watched his half volley set up by Ross Dent superbly saved by keeper Tom Morgan, the Ossett keeper leaping to his top right.

In the second forty-five John Reed’s side double their advantage, however, Nathan Curtis scoring his 10th in all competitions, outpacing centre back Gregg Anderson and striking sweetly across keeper Guthrie into the bottom left.

This was Clitheroe’s fifth goal conceded at Shawbridge this season.

Clitheroe were frustrated throughout the game as attacks were easily shepherded out by the visiting back line.

Though The Blues made for an exciting last 15 minutes as Scott Bakkor’s 75th minute long range effort flew past keeper Morgan. Delightful build up play between Bakkor and Dent led to the winger running Ossett’s midfield and finding the bottom left 25-yards from goal.

The results gives Ossett Town their fourth win of the season but condemns Simon Garner’s men to their third league defeat. The Blues remain in 8th on 12th as Ossett Town rise to 9th on the same points. The sides only separated by The Blues' superior goal difference.
