The Blues bounced back after the heavy defeat at Warrington with another impressive home win at Shawbridge tonight.

With the return of David Lynch, Jimmy Heywood and Roberto Bonaminio, the Blues line-up was immediately strengthened and they pulled off a good victory against one of the promotion favourites.

It was the visitors who struck first after 8 minutes, when Joe Fox's shot came back off the bar and Tom Corner was there to head home the rebound from close range.

The Blues levelled the scores on 24 minutes when Jonny Hession picked up the ball after a mistake by a Scarborough defender. He ran clear of the last defender and cooly slotted the ball past the Boro' keeper Robert Zand. This was Jonny's first competitive goal in a Blues shirt.

Hession had a good chance to score his second in first half stoppage time, but his effort was saved by Zand.

Half time 1-1

The Blues started the second half well and took the lead on 54 minutes. A good flowing move started on the left flank from Callum Hendry found David Lynch who laid the ball off perfectly for Jimmy Heywood to fire home from 20 yards, for his first goal of the season.

Scarborough came close to levelling the game on 72 minutes, when Tom Corner had two attempts to score with his second coming off the post.

This proved to be the turning point of the match as three minutes later, the Blues were awarded a penalty after Louis Mayers was pushed to the ground as he was about to tap the ball in to an empty net. The offending Scarborough defender was perhaps lucky to see only a yellow card. Scott Bakkor took the spot kick and blasted it in to the roof of net to make it 3-1.

The Blues were now pouring forward with confidence and Ross Dent was unlucky not to add to the scoring on 78 minutes, when his shot from an angle whistled past the far post.

The fourth Blues goal capped a great evening for skipper Lynch when he ran into the box, skipped past a defender and sent a low shot to the keepers left in to the corner of the net.

Scarborough gained a consolation goal in stoppage time when Gary Bradshaw scored direct from a free kick.

The Blues move up to 6th place with the victory.
