Three goals before half-time sealed The Blues' fate in this six goal affair.

Despite goals from Callum Henry and Scott Bakkor plus the Shawbridge return of Sefton Gonzales it was another frustrating day for Simon Garner’s side.

Clitheroe made only one change from the 4-1 midweek defeat to Glossop North End, Callum Jakovlevs coming in for Guthrie.

Trafford waited only six minutes to take the lead at Shawbridge, Jakovlevs elected to punch instead of catch a swinging corner ball, the rebound found midfielder Thomas Symth who dispatched low and hard on the half volley.

14 minutes later the team in yellow doubled their lead, brilliant build up player split apart The Blues' defence and frontman Philip Dean dispatched coolly past the advancing Jakovlevs.

Though on 24 minutes Simon Garner’s 11 bounced back, Callum Hendry latching onto a low cross and firing into the roof of the net past keeper Luke Pilling.

The sides were level only 3 minutes later, sweet feet from winger Scott Bakkor allowed him space to shoot low and hard past Pilling to the bottom right.

That was Clitheroe’s 16th goal at home this season.

Seconds before the half-time whistle the home side’s spirits were deflated, Danny Brady bringing a man down on the edge of The Blue’s box, picking up a yellow card would become the least of Brady’s worries as Adam Roscoe expertly striking the free-kick across the face of Jakovlevs and into the right side of goal.

Returning to the pitch one goal down manager Simon Garner introduced himself in-place of Alexander Nwachukwu.

Trafford made no mistakes as they shut out Clitheroe, the victory secured on 89 minutes when number 10 Chris McDonach made it four after he fired home on the counter-attack.

The Blues have now conceded 11 goals at home this season.

The results put Trafford ahead of The Blues in the Evo-Stik First Division North with their superior goal difference.
