Callum Hendry’s header was the decisive moment in this open contest.

The Clitheroe number ten latched onto winger Scott Harries’ cross, dispatching past Mossley keeper Liam Flynn in the 64th minute.

Visiting Mossley walked onto the Shawbridge pitch in brilliant form, boasting one draw and four wins in their last five games. Whilst Simon Garner's side were looking to capitalise on a mid-week triumph away to Lancaster City.

It took Clitheroe 23 minutes to carve out the first real chance, Scott Bakkor’s neat footwork and lobbed pass played in Henry who finished finely, though celebrations were cut short by the Linesman’s raised flag for offside.

Tow minutes later The Blues had another chance when a misjudged header from Mossley right back Caldon Henson was pounced upon by Scott Bakkor, the winger attempted to round Flynn in goal but the keeper saved his side with a smothering swoop.

The home side were relentless and in the same minute Sefton Gonzales was in on goal, the centre forward looked sure to put his side in front before dogged determination from Mossley defender Kyle McGonigle intervened, the number six stretching to nudge the ball out of Gonzales' control.

Garner’s side were almost left rueing squandered chances in the 46th minute after Mossley man Mike Fish was denied by a last gasp goal-line clearance from defender Danny Brady.

In his Shawbridge debute Ben Woodhead was called into action a minute later, the number one’s superb reactions kept the visitors at bay following a corner.

Brandon Barski got The Blue’s second of the day and 32nd of the season after rounding Flynn on the 90th minute.

The victory gives Clitheroe their tenth victory of the season putting them on 27 points and moving them a place up into 5th after Brighouse FC drew with Harrogate Railway.
