Both teams headed into this one in poor form with Clitheroe winless in 3 games with 11 goals conceded and Darlaston not registering a win since mid-August and sitting one from bottom in the Northern Premier League west.
Clitheroe took the lead early on in the 18th minute through a Luke Gill tap in after a lovely cross from Veron Parny.
Straight after the goal in the 19th minute Gill had the chance to grab his second of the game when Leon Creech threaded a good ball to Gill who narrowly put it just wide of the post.
Gill did make it two goals for the game just before the half in the 40th when he pounced on a misplaced pass from Jake Pearson to go one on one with Darlaston keeper Josh Bishop and slot it past him making it 2-0.
Half Time: Darlaston Town 0-2 Clitheroe FC
Clitheroe almost made it three in the 48th minute when a well worked corner routine found Creech free inside the box but the ball bobbled up before he hit it and his shot ultimately went wide.
Things went from bad to worse for Darlaston as Alex Foreshaw saw red in the 54th minute after a dangerous challenge on Leon Creech, forcing the striker off the field through injury.
Parny then put the game out of reach for Darlaston making it 3-0 in the 65th minute with a great near post finish after being set up by Josh Briggs.
The home side grabbed a late consolation goal in the 82nd minute when Callum Knowles floated the ball into the box to be converted by a Jake Collins header but it was too late to change the outcome of the game.
