The Blues headed into this looking for a win after their frustrating draw at Newcastle Town at the weekend. As for Trafford, despite being at the bottom of the league, their 4-1 win against Atherton last time out gave them a much-needed boost in confidence.
Clitheroe had the worst possible start to the game as Danny Wilkins brought down Brad Byrne in the box, giving the home side a penalty that was converted by Byrne in the fifth minute.
The visitors attempted to retaliate when Josh Brooks slipped in Jack Morris but his shot went high and wide.
Jordan Windass created the best chance of the half for Clitheroe in the 31st minute when his in-swinging corner kick almost made it through everyone and into the net, but Samuel Booth reacted well at the far post to tip it wide.
However, Trafford doubled their lead in the 41st minute through Charlie Frost after a deep cross from Isaac Noble found the target man at the back stick, who converted from close range.
Frost grabbed a brace just eight minutes later when he picked up the ball 35 yards from goal, spotting Oliver Belizzia off his line, and firing a stunning strike into the net to send Trafford into the break 3-0 up.

Clitheroe, now facing an uphill battle, offered little in the second half. Their best chance came in the 47th minute when Briggs found Luke Gill in the area but he somehow sliced it wide from five yards out.
Further attempts from Jake Carroll and Leon Creech failed to test Booth, leaving the game to end in a disappointing defeat for the Blues.
