The opening stages were relatively cagey, with both sides taking time to settle into the contest. Clitheroe carved out the first notable opportunity after 19 minutes when a deep cross from Jake Carroll picked out Cameron Lancaster at the back post, but his effort was deflected behind for a corner.
The Blues continued to probe and nearly fashioned another opening midway through the half. Lancaster was again involved as he slipped a pass through to Luke Gill on the left, who cut inside onto his right foot but dragged his shot wide of the target.
Chasetown made the breakthrough on 34 minutes in slightly fortunate circumstances. Tyrell Skeen-Hamilton was brought down in midfield but the referee waved play on, allowing Joey Butlin to pounce on the loose ball before calmly slotting past Zac Hadi at the near post.
Clitheroe attempted to respond before the break and came close when Josh Briggs unleashed a fierce effort from distance, though his strike was straight at Curtis Pond in the Chasetown goal.
Half Time: Chasetown 1-0 Clitheroe
The visitors added a second in the 73rd minute when the ball broke to Nathan Cameron in the area. He beat Hadi to it before delicately lofting his finish over him and into the back of the net.
Despite trailing, Clitheroe continued to push for a route back into the game during the second half. Their best opportunity came late on when Briggs whipped a dangerous cross into the near post, where Harry Scarborough met it first time, only to see his effort saved by Pond.
Clitheroe pressed until the final whistle but were ultimately unable to find a way through as Chasetown held firm to secure the victory.
