Clitheroe were unable to beat ten-man Mossley on Saturday as they drew 0-0 with the Manchester based side in a dull affair.
An early chance fell to the Blues in the 12th minute when a Jordan Windass free kick almost found the net but was plucked out of the top corner by Finley Madigan.
Mason Fawns responded with an effort for Mossley when he connected well with a loose ball in the area but it went just wide of the post.
The deadlock was almost broken on the half hour mark when Reece Webb-Foster’s well timed volley flew into the net but it was ruled out for offside.
Sekouba Sanogo gave Clitheroe their last hope of taking the lead before the break as the full back lashed an effort goalwards from distance but saw his shot fly high and wide.
Half Time: Clitheroe 0-0 Mossley
Clitheroe started the second half on the front foot with captain Jake Carroll seeing his well placed shot tipped wide of the post by Madigan at full stretch.
Not long after, Zac Hadi came to the rescue for the Blues as he stayed big to deny Webb-Foster in a one on one.
The visitors were then dealt a major blow in the 70th minute when Harry Barber-Olufowobi was sent off with a second yellow card for bringing down Harry Scarborough on the edge of the box.
With the odds now in their favour, Clitheroe piled on the pressure but late chances from both Jordan Windass and Luke Gill proved ineffective against a stubborn Mossley side.
Ultimately, the man advantage wasn’t enough to make the difference for Sean McConville’s side, who had to settle for a 0-0 draw.
Full Time: Clitheroe 0-0 Mossley
Although the result ended goalless, it can be seen as a positive for Clitheroe who recorded their first clean sheet since January. They will be looking to build on this with an away trip to Sporting Khalsa on April 4th.
