Sean McConville’s men were in fantastic position leading into this. Although league results have been turbulent of late, the huge 4-2 win over Stockton Town in the FA Trophy at weekend had given them confidence coming into this one. As for Sporting Khalsa, they sat in 18th place in the league with only two wins in their last 10.
The game started off slowly with both teams settling onto the game, with the only half chance coming falling in the 11th minute which saw Sam Olawumi when he took the ball of Burgess but was quickly brought down with the latter going into the book.
The action soon picked up however when Clitheroe took the lead after Veron Parny fizzed the ball into Lewis Trickett who controlled it well before drilling it past R’avan Constable in the 25th minute.
The Blues then doubled their lead seven minutes later in the 32nd minute when Josh Briggs played a perfectly weighted through ball to Olawumi who took it round Constable and tapped it home.
It did not take long for The Lions to retaliate to the two goal deficit as they grabbed one back in the 35th minute after Andre Carvalho-Landell crossed the ball into Tilt who fired home neatly on the volley.
Sporting Khalsa, now finding their feet, equalised right on the stroke of half time in the 45+1 minute after a mishit clearance from James McClenaghan saw the ball land nicely for Carvalho-Landell who calmly rolled the ball into the net.
Half Time: Clitheroe 2-2 Sporting Khalsa
Clitheroe had the chance to take the lead early in the second half in the 56th minute with a chance from Luke Gill that saw the in form man go one on one with Constable but the ball was fired straight at the Khalsa Skipper.
Sporting Khalsa then took the lead in the 66th minute when Jack Fletcher picked up a loose ball on the edge of the area and finessed it effortlessly round McClenaghan.
Clitheroe, who were trailing, had to dig deep to try and salvage something from the game. They did just that in the 82nd minute when Veron Parny received an overhit cross on the right wing; he composed himself and whipped the ball back into the box. Ultimately, the cross found its way through everyone and into the back of the net for a late equaliser.

This result sees The Blues move up one place in the table to 15th as they still try and find some consistent form in the league. However, Clitheroe look to return to winning ways at weekend as they are back in action as they face Witton Albion away on the 1st November.
