440 souls braved Baltic conditions and were treated to an excellent game between two of the dark horses for the play-off spots. Chasetown were a stylish, accomplished team and gave the home side a stern test, but it was Clitheroe who could feel aggrieved at not taking three points after hitting the woodwork on three occasions and having a strong penalty shout waved away.
The game could not have started in worse fashion for the home side as with only four minutes on the clock, an incisive series of passes by Chasetown saw Joe Thompson on the left and his first time cross was swept home by Ty Webster before any defenders could react.
Clitheroe continued to be caught cold, and minutes later it was only two last ditch tackles from the Clitheroe defence, which prevented the visitors from doubling their lead in the 6th minute.
Slowly Clitheroe came back into the game and Josh Briggs slipped Luke Gill through on goal, only to see his shot saved by Curtis Pond.
In the 21st minute, Clitheroe managed an equaliser. Gill was fouled 25 yards out, and a delightful free kick from skipper Jake Carroll was partially cleared but only as far as Cameron Lancaster, who drove the ball home.
As the first half came to a close, Jack Morris burst down the right, and his superb scudding cross somehow eluded all the onrushing Clitheroe attackers in the 45+1st minute.

Early in the second half, in the 47th minute, Briggs found half a yard of space and slammed a shot against the post as Clitheroe looked the more likely to score.
In the 68th minute, Clitheroe hit the woodwork again as Sefton Gonzales headed the ball against the bar after a neat free kick found him from the byline.
Minutes later, in the 73rd minute, there was a penalty call for the Blues as Gonzales was brought down inside the area but referee James Garsrud waved it off.
Gonzales was at the heart of most of the action late on and he turned provider for Veron Parny, whose shot was turned behind for a corner by Pond in the 75th minute.
Late on, in the 86th minute, Brad Ditch glanced a superb header goalwards, only to see it hit the post yet again. But in the end the Blues had to settle for a point.
