Clitheroe can have had few complaints after a classy Scarborough swept them aside in the first half, and although the second half was more even, the damage had been done. The main tormentor was recent loan signing Max Wright who caused havoc on the right wing.

The Clitheroe defence seemed flat from the off and as early as the first minute, the visitors had a solid shot from the right. On 11 minutes, Ryan Cattermole had a clumsy challenge which led to a free kick. When this was swung in from the right, Chris Thompson parried a header, but the bouncing ball was still active and it was easily driven home. The home team were looking shaky and were being unpicked regularly. On 22 minutes, a deep cross was lofted over the defenders, for the Boro centre forward to receive the ball, steady himself and then drill it home at the near post. Three minutes later, Wright received the ball, held off a series of challenges and then fired home. Clitheroe's first chance came on 28 minutes when Joe Mitchell lofted the ball down the left to Sefton Gonzales whose cross was volleyed over by Kurt Willoughby. Ollie Crankshaw was starting to see more of the ball and on 40 minutes Brad Carroll headed narrowly over from a corner.

The visitors kept up the pressure in the second half, but it was a snap shot from Crankshaw which went closest. One minute later, Carroll was fed a superb left wing cross by Mitchell and his downward header was superbly saved by the keeper. Adam Bolton then fed Carroll a through ball on 57 minutes, but he could not get his shot on target. The game was over as a contest on 67 minutes when another Wright cross was met with a diving header. Gonzales had a flicked header harshly ruled out for offside, but there were no complaints about the outcome by the home fans.
