The Blues have pulled off a major transfer coup with the capture of Ben McKenna in a serious show of intent.
McKenna arrives at Shawbridge from National League North side Farsley Celtic for an undisclosed fee.
The attacking midfielder has agreed an 18-month contract and becomes the first player to command a transfer fee since Stewart Fort took over as chairman of the Blues in the summer of 2020.
The board, management duo of Billy Priestley and Gary Stopforth, and everyone behind the scenes are delighted to have secured the deal for the 28-year-old, who brings an outstanding CV to Clitheroe.
McKenna joined Farsley at the start of the season after spending two years in the North East with National League North rivals Spennymoor .
After starting his senior career with Carlisle United, the Burnley-born midfield man has also had spells with Bradford Park Avenue, Stalybridge Celtic, Curzon Ashton and Chester.
McKenna also spent a spell playing alongside Priestley at Southport and the pair are now re-united, with McKenna in line to make a debut in the Blues’ FA Trophy second-round qualifying tie at home to Liversedge on Saturday.
Kick-off is at 3pm with admission payable by all spectators – including season-ticket holders – as the Blues look to welcome McKenna and AFC Fylde youngsters Rhys Long, Harry Jones and Mane Walder, who have signed on month-loan loan deals.
