Clitheroe FC is delighted to announce that it has secured significant grant funding from The Premier League Stadium Fund towards a new LED floodlighting system. The system will be provided by Midstream, and work will begin on the ground immediately after the season ends to replace the current 35-year-old stanchions and subsequently purchased lights and electrics. The club has also elected to pay additionally to make the new system operate at 250 lux, rather than the current 200 lux, to meet the ground grading criteria for the Conference North. Some funding created by the club’s recent FA Trophy run has been ear marked for the floodlights. The balance of match funding will be raised through sponsorship, an end of season SKI Fund draw, and a high-profile floodlight opening match.
In addition, work is also underway to create a turnstile block for visiting fans at the Nursery End of the ground. This should be in place in time for next season and continues the club’s drive to improve the Shawbridge facilities using Conference North criteria as the yardstick.
